Frequently asked questions

What clinicians most often ask us

Clear answers about how we work, our turnaround times and how to send a case. If your question is not here, contact us directly.

01

Workflow and case submission

Shipping to us is the responsibility of the clinic. You can send the work by courier to our laboratory address, or for digital cases, send the file directly by email or via the channel we agree on. Upon receipt we will confirm delivery and, where applicable, the estimated turnaround time.

Yes. We work primarily with STL and PLY formats, which are the standard export formats for virtually all intraoral scanner systems on the market. If you have any doubts about compatibility with your specific equipment, please consult us before sending the case.

Return shipping to the clinic is our responsibility. We use courier services to ensure the work arrives in appropriate condition. The logistics details for return shipping are confirmed when each case is formalised.

To process the work correctly we need: patient identification (applying the applicable GDPR privacy criteria), clinical indication, desired material and shade, and any specific relevant instructions. The more clear information you provide, the lower the risk of misinterpretation and the more precise the result.

02

Turnaround times and Zero Date Commitment

The Zero Date Commitment is our way of working: when we confirm a delivery date, that date drives all our internal planning. It is not an advertising slogan — it is the actual methodology by which we organise production. Any circumstance that may affect the deadline is communicated to the clinic as early as possible.

As indicative figures under normal working conditions: crowns and bridges of up to 3 units have a typical turnaround of 5 working days; work of more than 3 units has a typical turnaround of 12 working days. These are general references — the definitive turnaround is always confirmed upon receipt of the case, and may vary according to the complexity of the work, the material, or the location of the clinic.

We assess each urgent request individually. The feasibility and conditions of an urgent case depend on current production load, the type of work and the material required. Contact us directly and we will give you a specific response as quickly as possible.

If during production any circumstance arises that may affect the agreed date, we contact the clinic immediately to inform them and agree on the best solution. Proactive communication is part of how we work.

03

Materials and technology

We work primarily with materials from the Zirkonzahn Prettau family — including Prettau 3 Dispersive and Prettau 4 Anterior — and with DMAX SMART Multilayer, a 7-layer disc with 1,100 MPa flexural strength and 46% translucency. Material selection is always made according to the specific clinical indication: anterior or posterior sector, occlusal load, implant support and aesthetic requirements.

CAD/CAM milling is the indicated process for definitive restorations in zirconia, PEEK, BioHPP and other high-strength materials. 3D printing — with our Zirkonzahn P4000 — is used for working models, occlusal splints, surgical guides for implants and resin temporaries. These are complementary technologies: each case determines which is most appropriate.

Yes. The laboratory has a specific track record in PEEK and BioHPP applied to implant prosthetics — this is an area of team specialisation. These materials are particularly relevant in cases of metal hypersensitivity, immediate-load implantology and implant rehabilitations where impact absorption is a clinically determining factor.

Yes. We work with both fully digital workflows and conventional physical impressions. In the latter case, model pouring and scanning is carried out at the laboratory as part of the workflow.

04

Quality and fit

The marginal fit of restorations depends on the quality of the source record — whether physical impression or digital scanner file — and the correct execution of the CAD/CAM workflow. We use precision Zirkonzahn milling equipment and calibrated design software. The specific result always depends on the conditions of the individual case.

If a restoration does not present the expected fit, please contact the laboratory describing the issue in as much detail as possible. We analyse each case individually to determine the source of the problem and the most appropriate solution. We always act within the framework established by current regulations applicable to custom-made medical devices.

Yes. The materials we use — Zirkonzahn Prettau, DMAX SMART and others — carry CE marking as medical devices. We work exclusively with suppliers whose technical and conformity documentation is in order. If for a specific case you need the technical data sheet for the material used, we can provide it.

Yes. Biohealth Dental Lab operates as a duly registered dental laboratory in accordance with applicable Spanish regulations. Work is issued with the laboratory documentation required by current legislation on custom-made medical devices.

05

Logistics, coverage and clinic registration

We work with clinics throughout Spain. Shipping logistics adapt to each client's location, and indicative turnaround times may vary depending on distance and courier transit times. We also work with international clients — in those cases we assess the logistical conditions individually.

The process is straightforward: contact us by phone, email or through the website form. We will explain how to register as a collaborating clinic and the steps to send your first case. There is no minimum volume commitment required to get started.

Yes. We have experience working with clients outside Spain. For international enquiries, please contact us directly so we can assess the logistical conditions, turnaround times and any customs or regulatory considerations that may apply depending on the destination country.

The team communicates without difficulty in Spanish, English, German and French. If you are a non-Spanish-speaking clinic, you can contact us directly in any of these languages and we will handle the case with the same fluency.
